In May 2022, the Art & Design Department travelled with students in tow to ACRE (Artist’s Cooperative Residency & Exhibitions) in Steuben, Wisconsin, located in the Driftless Area. Prior to the trip, students studied vernacular art forms, architecture, outsider art, history of the region, and the archeological makeup. On site, the students were introduced to green woodworking techniques, blacksmithing, foraging for wild mushrooms, documentary photography, journaling, and found object sculpture.
The 2022 student participants: Vada Arndt, Rylee Carpenter, Julianna Handorf, Riley Harper, Jareset Lagunas, Nick Munafo, Veronica Navarrete, Porter, Caelan Ragain, and Emila Torres. The trip was led by professors Chester Alamo-Costello and Paul Erschen.
