Rita Grendze – homeward

In celebration of Woman’s History Month, the University of St. Francis Art Gallery presents:

Rita Grendze: homeward
March 7 – April 8, 2016
Artist Talk: Thursday, March 17 @ 10:30 a.m.

University of St. Francis Art Gallery
25 East Van Buren, Joliet, IL 60432
Gallery Hours: Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Homeward explores the concept of home and culture. Using mundane objects, Grendze offers viewers a look into the ordinary “stuff” of our lives. While gaining an understanding of the material’s social significance, Grendze sorts and categorizes, recognizing the visual properties of the materials. Through intense yet informal research, Grendze experiments with the materials physical properties, manipulating and layering.

The winner of a Fulbright Grant, Grendze earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees with a focus on fiber art.
