There’s been an unusual parallel between my marriage and the National. I married in 1997, I had been documenting the underground Noise music scene in the city for roughly 5 years, then in 2001 I was introduced to The National and their self-titled album. Like my wife, The National has been a constant in life for over 20 years. Kicking off the 2023 tour, The National began with 4 shows at the city’s Auditorium Theatre at Roosevelt University.
